THE ASK:
Tell the story of a 200 year old organization that deals with an incredibly sensitive and logistically difficult fact of life.
THE IDEA:
Create a narrative of hope through an emotionally driven piece that connects with the audience in a creative way while respecting and maintaining the privacy of the New Path children. Rather than focusing on a child — what if we made a boy’s stuffed animal the protagonist of the story?
THE work:
After obtaining numerous stuffed lions (Louie) with varying expressions and writing the poem that would become the VO of the piece, we headed into production. Filming took only two days and when all was said and done, the emotion we were able to capture far exceeded our original vision.
Louie the Lion not only reached the hearts of the audience, but reached the hearts of numerous judges. To date, Louie has won HMCo a total of 11 awards including an Emmy. The video continues to build awareness and support for the New Path Organization and Louie has since become the face of their fundraising efforts. Individuals have the ability to adopt their very own Louie or give a Louie to a child in need.
